The Living Room Leader
Around mid-March 2020 or thereabouts, many of us became Living Room Leaders (or Bedroom/Kitchen/Garage Leaders), having to figure out new ways to manage, motivate, hire and engage our teams. With no road map, no ‘best practice’ guidelines, and no ‘how to lead remote teams RIGHT NOW’ training manual.
Some of us may have been working diligently towards lofty goals such as flexi-time and work-from-home for our teams, and towards a leadership style and approach that cultivates greater accountability from everyone, and in turn greater trust, communication and collaboration….and of course greater productivity and output!
But none of us expected to have to achieve this over a weekend!
‘The Living Room Leader’ is my account of the shift that I and many of my peers (leaders in corporations and entrepreneurs running a range of differently sized organisations) have had to make in record time, in order to lead, hire and engage our people, during what is undoubtedly the most challenging work-life experience that any of us have ever encountered.
My objective with TLRL was to learn from and be inspired by some of the world’s most innovative leaders, and hear how they have leveraged the Covid landscape to achieve unexpected and unanticipated positive outcomes with their teams. And to get their take on what lies ahead for us in 2021.
